About the poems:
Fred Moten shared an essay called “Little Back Kant (Pronounced ‘Can’t’)” with Douglas Kearney for a 2014 CalArts M.A. course in Aesthetics & Politics. In the essay, Moten introduced a list of sixteen categories. Intrigued, Kearney set to write a series of poems as sequential fractals engaging each category through the other fifteen. The essay became “Knowledge of Freedom” and the poems became A Natural History of Inequality.
